The past fews days I've been on my own here in Brooklyn. Babac had to go to San Francisco for the final steps of our visa. We kind of figured at this point that he would probably have to fly to San Francsico from Bologna after we got there. The timing was just too tight before we left. But the consulate squeezed him in and knowing that he absolutely needed his passport back for our cruise on Monday, issued the visa yesterday - on our 37th anniversary. Hallelujah. I'm pretty sure we could never have imagined at the time this picture was taken where we would be 37 years later.
It has continued to be very hot, very humid and very inhospitable to aimless wandering. I've been getting out and walking every day, going as far as the weather permits before heading back to the air conditioning. The amount of of new construction going on around here is pretty amazing. Every other block has something being built it seems.
Last night IÂ was able to have dinner with my dear friend Eileen who is in Brooklyn for her daughter's wedding this weekend. We met at a classic Italian restaurant in Carroll Gardens and had a great time catching up. I loved that our calendars synced up that way.
I got the text from Babac about the visa being issued right as IÂ left the restaurant. So instead of heading right back to the hotel IÂ took myself to a cute little cocktail bar that Hallie had told me about for a celebratory nightcap. Weird anniversary being apart but finally getting the visa was the best gift ever.
