Today was our first full day on the ship. I think you could walk around all day, every day, and still find things you haven't seen. There is so much on board.Â
We started the day in the main dining room. There are countless places to eat but we figured we'd give the main dining room a try (we'd eaten dinner there the first night). The dinner we had the first night was excellent and breakfast was as well. They make a perfect cappuccino so our day was off to a good start.
During the day we did some laps on the deck. There are some very serious walkers onboard and god forbid you slow them down. They seem fun. It is a nice walk though and it's nice to be outside. The weather has been quite warm - mid-70's. We lose an hour every day at noon. The captain makes an announcement at 12 sharp - he gives updates on how far we've traveled, the water temperature, and other interesting facts. then he signs off and it is suddenly 1:05.Â
They keep the spare parts handy.
The big event today was that it was the first gala evening - the theme was Red and Gold which are the Cunard colors. We are not gala evening people. But we played our best pretend gala people and donned our red and gold. It really was fun to see people so dressed up. There were ball gowns and tuxedos. There were waltzes (present company excluded). It was fun to experience.
We ended the evening at the Commodore's Club where they have an amazing model of the Queen Mary 2.
Smooth sailing so far.
