This last train ride was a short one thankfully. The train was way overbooked and they were trying to arrange bus transport from Innsbruck (where we were getting off) for all the extra people. We'd booked seats and we got to the station pretty early so we did okay but it was really crowded. The Munich train station was kind of a shit show as it was the Friday of the last weekend of Oktoberfest. SO MANY PEOPLE. Luck was on our side as we walked in the station and to our immediate left was our platform. We sat next to the nicest couple who were on their way for a weekend getaway (but she couldn't say where because it was a surprise for her husband). Somehow we started talking about music and it turns out he is a very big Springsteen fan and they've gone to shows all over Germany. He was also a drummer in a hard rock band in his youth. Now he plays acoustic guitar, his wife plays accordion and they did balcony concerts for their neighbors during covid. It was such a pleasant ride talking to them. I hope their mystery weekend is a success.
We were originally going to Lucerne Switzerland for the last bit of our trip but the train schedule didn't really work for us so we switched to Innsbruck. We love it. Our hotel is steps away from the river and this view -
The green of the river is really something to see. It looks like the color of sea glass.
I love this little seating area in the bar of our hotel.Â
For our first night it was certainly hopping here in Innsbruck. It was "shopping night" and the stores were open late and every other one seemed to have a DJ. Along with the DJs there were several stages with different music, a life-size music box ballerina and the magic sky piano. We'd seen them setting it up earlier in the day but we had no idea it was going to be lifted up off the ground! We ate dinner at the restaurant in front of this and had nice piano music to accompany our meal.  I have a lot of pictures on my phone but it seems to be possessed right now and won't connect with wifi or data while at the hotel. So I haven't been able to sync with the laptop (these photos are courtesy of Babac's phone). All things considered we've been pretty lucky with technology and being able to stay in touch but it is a little annoying.Â
This will be the last city of the "vacation" part of this journey. Six weeks seems like no time at all and also forever. We're enjoying every bit of it.
