Yesterday was the official end of the transatlantic crossing as we entered the English Channel. Yesterday had a slightly different feel as I think a lot of passengers were in their cabins packing up and preparing to disembark today. But last night everything and everyone felt rather boisterous. Â
We had another day of relaxing - reading by the indoor pool as it rained outside. While we were doing our walk on the deck we spotted dolphins - so many dolphins. It was pretty spectacular to see so many of them in the water like that.
Today the ship docked in Southampton in the wee hours of the morning. We had plans to meet up with friends of ours for lunch. They live about two hours away and very kindly made the drive down to see us. An old high school friend of Babac's, Marc, and his wife Adele are two of our favorite people to visit. Even though it had been eleven years since we'd last seen them it felt like yesterday. We spent a few hours catching up over lunch. Sadly we forgot to take any pictures so I guess this one from when they were teenagers will have to suffice.
The weather was gray when we headed off the ship but soon the sky was blue and the temperature was warm.
We had clear skies when we departed Southampton this evening. Tomorrow is our last full day on the ship and we arrive in Hamburg on Wednesday. It's gone very quickly which seems surprising - it just seems like such a long time to be on a ship.
Tomorrow we pack up and get ready for Germany.Â
