A bit delayed but still wanted to post about the other museum we went to in Hamburg. It's called Miniatur Wunderland and it is the world's largest model railway. It completely blew us away - the amount of work and attention to detail in this place is unbelievable. It's in a beautiful building.
There are music festivals, mountains, airports, monuments - pretty much everything you can think of.Â
There's this incredibly detailed stone quarry
There are Italians arguing in the street over a car accident
and even a crime scene investigation
There are several places in the museum where they have their workspaces - they are behind glass so you can actually watch the craftspeople at work painting and creating. There's a control room where there were probably six people monitoring the trains. It was pretty amazing. They had a cafeteria that was very clever - the booths were made to look as if you are on a train.
It also provided some excellent views - such a fun place.
